Cate Blanchett sarà Lucille Ball in un biopic

Cate Blanchett interpreterà Lucille Ball in un nuovo film biografico scritto dal noto sceneggiatore Aaron Sorkin. La pellicola racconterà i 20 anni di matrimonio di Ball con l’attore e musicista Desi Arnaz, che ha anche interpretato suo marito nella serie televisiva Lucy ed io (I Love Lucy), andata in onda sulla CBS dal 1951 al 1957.

Il progetto ha la benedizione dei figli di Lucille Ball e di Desi Arnaz, Lucie Arnaz e Desi Arnaz Jr., che produrranno il film con la Escape Artists, la società dietro il Southpaw – L’ultima sfida (2015) e The Equalizer – Il vendicatore (2014), entrambi di Antoine Fuqua.

Sia Aaron Sorkin che Cate Blanchett non sono estranei ai film biografici. Cate ha vinto un Oscar per il suo ruolo come Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator di Martin Scorsese (2004). La vedremo presto anche nella parte della giornalista Mary Mapes nel film Truth (2015) diretto da James Vanderbilt.

E Aaron Sorkin è praticamente quasi specializzato in biopic e storie vere. Gli ultimi tre titoli della sua filmografia sono esemplari: The Social Network di David Fincher (2010) su Facebook e Mark Zuckerberg, L’arte di vincere (2011) di Bennett Miller (2011) sulla squadra di baseball Oakland Athletics e sul loro manager Billy Beane e Steve Jobs (20115) di Danny Boyle che vedremo presto nelle nostre sale.
