Oscar 2020, ecco i documentari in corsa: c'è anche Beniamino Barrese

Il 13 gennaio saranno annunciate le nomination ufficiali.

Sono 159 i documentari in corsa per gli Oscar 2020, che si terranno il 9 febbraio 2020 al Dolby Theatre di Hollywood. Tra i 159 doc spicca la presenza di Beniamino Barrese, 33enne regista di La scomparsa di mia madre, presentato in anteprima mondiale a fine gennaio al Sundance Film Festival. Da allora l'opera di Barrese, interamente centrata sulla madre Benedetta Barzini, ha fatto il giro del mondo, uscendo in poche selezionate sale d'Italia il 10 ottobre scorso.

La speranza è che La scomparsa di mia madre possa ripetere quanto fatto da Fuocoammare nel 2017, con Gianfranco Rosi candidato, anche se sconfitto da O.J.: Made in America di Ezra Edelman. Barrese dovrà vedersela con una sfilza di sfidanti agguerriti e decisamente in rampa di lancio. "American Factory", "Halston", "Pavarotti" di Ron Howard e "Tesla Nation", "Diego Maradona" di Asif Kapadia, "Timothy Greenfield-Sanders: The Pieces I Am", "Apollo 11", "Citizen K" di Alex Gibney, "American Dharma" di Errol Morris e "Ask Dr. Ruth".
