Biografia

Jim Carrey: Il suo volto è una maschera naturale in grado di adattarsi ai diversi generi cinematografici, dalla commedia al fantastico.

Canadese di Newmarket (nell’Ontario), James Eugene Redmond Carrey fa sfoggio già negli anni del liceo delle doti di cabarettista. Abbandonati, a 16 anni, gli studi per la carriera di comico, debuttando prima in TV e nel 1983 al cinema.

La popolarità arriva dieci anni più tardi con l’esilarante Ace Ventura – L’acchiappanimali, cui seguono altre pellicole comiche di successo, quali The Mask – Da zero a mito (1994) e Una settimana da Dio (2003).

Parimenti apprezzate le performance in film drammatici come The Truman Show (1998), Man on the Moon (1999) e Se mi lasci ti cancello (2004), con i primi due che gli regalano altrettanti Golden Globe come “miglior attore protagonista” e il terzo premiato agli Oscar per la sceneggiatura.

Nel 2009 recita nel film d’animazione virtuale A Christmas Carol, prodotto dalla Walt Disney Pictures e tratto dal famoso libro di Charles Dickens interpretando ben sette personaggi grazie alla tecnica del “motion capture”. Nel 2014 recita il sequel di Scemo & + scemo.
